The challenge
Kołaszewski is a manufacturer from Bytów in northern Poland, with roots going back to 1974. Under the FK Machinery brand it makes attachments for front loaders, telescopic loaders and mini loaders: adapters, buckets, forks, snow ploughs, sweepers and much more. Under FK Steel it offers laser cutting, CNC bending, sheet rolling and powder coating to other companies.
Its customers are dealers and farmers in many countries, and they come with very specific questions. Will this adapter fit my loader? How wide is this bucket, and how much does it weigh? The company needed a site that could carry a large, technical catalogue in many languages and still be easy to find your way around.
What we did
We started with wireframes for desktop and mobile and worked the design through five rounds with the client. The home page splits the two businesses straight away: farm equipment and loader accessories on one side, steel products on the other, each with its own brand.
The catalogue runs on WordPress and WooCommerce, used as a product catalogue rather than a shop. Every category opens as a grid of products, and every product page puts the key numbers first, as icons: capacity and weight for an adapter, side and cover thickness and volume for a bucket. Below come the description, options, technical drawings in the gallery and a table of all available versions with their index, width, weight and volume. Next to it, the right salesperson is easy to find by country and language, with a form to send an enquiry.
The site works in eight languages and has a product search that suggests results as you type, a section for dealers and product catalogues to download.
The result
Kołaszewski got one site for both brands, where dealers and customers find the right attachment and the right person to ask about it.
The catalogue has kept growing since launch: today the English version alone lists 240 products in 12 categories.
